June 30, 2022The foundation

HavePaws was officially established

HavePaws registered in mid-2022 as a social enterprise pursuing nonprofit goals for companion-animal welfare in Vietnam.

  • Committed to reinvesting 100% of retained profit, if any, in its social mission.

2023From pilot to wider action

The Quy Mao campaign and community TNVR

From late 2022 into early 2023, the Quy Mao campaign piloted trap–neuter–vaccinate–return (TNVR) in Ho Chi Minh City, creating a model HavePaws could bring to more communities.

  • Major news outlets helped bring the animal-welfare story to a wider public.
  • A structured workflow combined social-media requests, assessment criteria, field surveys, and delivery plans.
  • More than 500 dogs and cats were supported with very limited resources, largely contributed by the community.

August 18, 2024Community meets technology

Adoption Day and our first AI feature

HavePaws held a large Adoption Day and launched HavePaws AI's first feature to help match lost and found dogs and cats.

  • Connected the community around responsible adoption and animal care.
  • Began collecting and standardizing lost-and-found data for image matching.
  • Laid the groundwork for a community data platform for companion-animal welfare.

Joining the Asia for Animals Coalition

HavePaws became the first Vietnamese-founded and led organization to join the Asia for Animals Coalition (AfA), a proud milestone for Vietnam's companion-animal welfare voice within the regional animal-protection network.

  • Built relationships with animal-welfare organizations across Asia.
  • Brought field experience involving dogs and cats in Vietnam into regional conversations.

Serving in two AfA specialist coalitions

HavePaws now participates in two Asia for Animals Coalition specialist coalitions, contributing experience and a voice from Vietnam to urgent regional issues.

  • The Dog and Cat Meat Trade Coalition — working to end the trade and consumption of dog and cat meat.
  • The Disaster Resilience Coalition — strengthening disaster and crisis preparedness and response.
  • Continuing to build the data, technology, and coordination capacity needed for future challenges.

August 2025A voice from Vietnam

Presenting at an Asian animal-protection forum

HavePaws was invited to present the HavePaws AI tool at one of Asia's major animal-protection forums, bringing local insight from Vietnam to animal advocates and organizations from around the world.

Supporting the rescue of more than 400 cats

The case involving more than 400 cats in District 9 was unprecedented in this form. HavePaws helped move the situation toward the best possible outcome.
